Slab & Mud Jacking: Lifting Sunken Concrete Back Into Place
A proven, less-invasive way to raise settled slabs across North and South Carolina, without tearing out and repouring the concrete.
Let's take the first step toward a healthy home.
A local specialist will inspect your foundation, walk you through the findings, and send a clear estimate. no cost, no pressure.
What slab & mud jacking is and when it's the right call.
Mud jacking works on a simple principle: a settled slab has voids underneath it, and filling those voids with a dense, flowable material both supports the slab and pushes it back up. Our crew drills a pattern of small holes, typically around the size of a quarter to a silver dollar, through the top of the concrete. A cement-based slurry (a blend of sand, cement, and water, sometimes with other fine aggregates) is pumped under pressure through those holes. As the slurry fills the empty space beneath the slab, it raises the concrete gradually and evenly back toward its original elevation. The lift is controlled in small increments so the slab does not crack or over-rise. Once the slab is back at the target height, the holes are patched. The cured slurry then acts as a stable base beneath the concrete. Mud jacking addresses the slab and the void directly beneath it. It does not, on its own, change the deeper soil conditions or drainage problems that allowed the settlement to happen in the first place. That is why diagnosis matters: in some Carolina soils, particularly active Piedmont clay or washed-out subgrade near downspouts, we may recommend correcting the underlying cause, or using a deeper structural solution like piers, so the lift holds up over time rather than re-settling.
How we install slab & mud jacking.
No-pressure inspection and diagnosis
We start by evaluating the slab and, just as importantly, why it settled. We check the degree and direction of settlement, look for voids, and assess soil and drainage conditions around the slab. In Piedmont clay or Sandhills sandy soils, the cause of settlement shapes the recommendation, and we will tell you plainly if mud jacking is not the right fit for your slab.
Confirm candidacy and explain the plan
Mud jacking is well suited to many exterior and interior flatwork slabs but is not appropriate for every situation. We confirm whether your slab is a good candidate, walk you through what the lift will involve, and explain any drainage or soil corrections we would recommend alongside it. You get a clear picture before any work begins.
Drill injection holes
Our crew drills a pattern of small holes through the surface of the slab in the areas that need lifting. The hole pattern is planned around where the voids are and how the slab needs to rise so the lift comes up evenly.
Pump the slurry and lift the slab
A cement-based slurry is pumped through the holes under controlled pressure. As it fills the voids beneath the slab, the concrete is raised in small, monitored increments back toward its original height. Working gradually keeps the lift even and reduces the risk of cracking the slab.
Patch, clean up, and review
Once the slab is at the target elevation, we patch the injection holes and clean the work area. We review the finished result with you and go over any drainage or grading recommendations that help protect the lift, so you understand how to keep the slab supported going forward.
"Lifting a slab is the easy part. The job we actually take pride in is figuring out why it sank in the first place, because in our Carolina soils that's what determines whether the fix lasts. If mud jacking isn't the right answer for your concrete, we'll tell you, no pressure, no upsell."

When soil and water pressure starts pushing a foundation wall inward, carbon fiber straps bond to the wall and resist that load, a low-profile fix for early to moderate bowing across North and South Carolina.
Learn moreConcrete Piers
Concrete pier systems carry a settled foundation's weight down to firmer, load-bearing soil across North and South Carolina, supporting the structure on ground that holds.

A targeted way to seal poured-concrete foundation cracks and stop water seepage across North and South Carolina, paired with an honest look at what caused the crack in the first place.
