What polyjacking is and when it's the right call.
Polyjacking works on a straightforward idea. A settled slab has empty space underneath it, and filling that space with an expanding, load-bearing foam both supports the slab and pushes it back up. Our crew drills a pattern of small holes through the top of the concrete, typically around the size of a penny, which is smaller than the holes used for cement-based mud jacking. Injection ports are set in those holes, and a two-part polyurethane is pumped through them. The two parts mix and react beneath the slab, expanding into a rigid foam within seconds. The lift is controlled in small increments. As the foam expands and fills the voids, it raises the concrete evenly, and the crew monitors elevation in real time so the slab comes up to the target height without over-lifting or cracking. Because the foam cures quickly, most slabs can bear weight again within about fifteen minutes of the lift. Once the slab is level, the small holes are patched and the work area is cleaned. A few practical traits make foam a good fit for certain Carolina slabs. It is lightweight, so it does not add significant load to soil that is already loose or washed out. It cures fast, which limits downtime on a driveway or walkway. And the cured foam does not break down in damp conditions. What polyjacking does not do, on its own, is change the deeper soil behavior or the drainage conditions that allowed the settlement in the first place. That is why diagnosis comes first. In active Piedmont clay that keeps swelling and shrinking, or where water keeps washing out the subgrade, we may recommend correcting the underlying cause, or a deeper structural solution such as piers, so the lift holds over time rather than re-settling.
How we install polyjacking.
No-pressure inspection and diagnosis
We start by evaluating the slab and, just as importantly, why it settled. We check the degree and direction of settlement, look for voids beneath the concrete, and assess the soil and drainage conditions around the slab. In Piedmont clay, Sandhills sand, or saturated coastal soils, the cause of the settlement shapes the recommendation, and we will tell you plainly if polyjacking is not the right fit for your slab.
Confirm candidacy and explain the plan
Polyjacking suits many exterior and interior flatwork slabs, but it is not appropriate for every situation. We confirm whether your slab is a good candidate, walk you through what the lift will involve, and explain any drainage or soil corrections we would recommend alongside it. You get a clear picture, and a quote, before any work begins.
Drill small injection holes
Our crew drills a pattern of small holes, typically about the size of a penny, through the surface of the slab in the areas that need lifting. The hole pattern is planned around where the voids are and how the slab needs to rise, so the concrete comes up evenly.
Inject the foam and lift the slab
A two-part polyurethane is pumped through the injection ports. The two parts react beneath the slab and expand into a rigid foam that fills the voids and raises the concrete in small, monitored increments back toward its original height. The crew watches elevation in real time so the lift stays even and the slab does not over-rise or crack.
Patch, clean up, and review
Because the foam cures quickly, the slab is usually ready to bear weight again within about fifteen minutes. We patch the small injection holes, clean the work area, and review the finished result with you. We also go over any drainage or grading recommendations that help protect the lift, so you understand how to keep the slab supported going forward.
"Foam goes in light and sets fast, and homeowners love how quickly they get their driveway back. The part we take pride in is figuring out why the slab dropped, because in our Carolina clay and coastal sand that is what decides whether the lift holds. If polyjacking isn't the right answer for your concrete, we'll tell you. No pressure, no upsell."
